Margrit Schenker (CH)

Dialogue with Pauline Oliveros at the Théâtre du Galpon

Composer, pianist, accordionist and resident organist at St. Martin’s church in Effretikon (canton of Zurich), Margrit Schenker is also an improviser, a domain she has studied with Irène Schweizer in particular. Her composition for voice and accordion, Fifty Songs, performed with Pauline Oliveros, has been presented in a variety of venues such as the Embassy of Switzerland in Washington, D.C., the Accordion Festival in Krems (Austria), the Swiss Institute in New York and Prague Castle. She performs solo in Switzerland and abroad, works with Malcolm Goldstein and poet Wanda Schmid, and was resident artist at the Pauline Oliveros Foundation in New York and the Visby International Centre for Composers on the island of Gotland (Sweden).
